Any tips?

I hate flying.
more than anything.
really.

I would rather do all of these things than fly.
I would rather do them all at the same time than fly.

1. Have an annual exam
2. Listen to hard core rap
3. Stub my pinkie toe
4. Drink Dr. Pepper
5. Watch cage fighting
6. Hear cats mating outside my bedroom window all night.

Nothing has worked in the past in easing my anxiety.
Dramamine
Xanax
Alcohol
Unisom
(Although I haven't tried taking them all at once...?)

I wish I could just read a book or watch a movie, but I can't focus on anything except the need for fresh air and the inability to get comfortable...and every noise the plane makes.

I would be completely content to never fly again. Staying at home is one of my favorite things to do. The problem is my sister-in-law is getting married in Pennsylvania and I'm not going to miss her wedding, plus I already have my ticket.

Please, please, please give me any and all ideas you might have for ways to conquer this fear. There has got to be something I haven't tried.
Ugh, I get sick just thinking about it and it's months away.

PS I need to be somewhat coherent because my kids are going also.

I take Ativan. Now, the trick is to NOT take the reccommended dosage. Double it. Or, last time, I tripled it. You know what? I'm still so freakin' scared of flying that I was not WIPED OUT by it. It took the edge off though.

Oh no... Good luck. I don't LOVE to fly either, especially if there is any turbulence. Maybe there is some sort of acupressure point like those bracelets that make it so you don't get nauseous. Hmmm, not really very helpful, but I will be sending you good thoughts...

No tips for anxiety but I have bought special ear plugs called earplanes for Jordon and some of his family members who get sick from the change in pressure during descent. You can get them at BiMart and there are specially made ones for children but I think you would have to order them online.

Those pressure point bracelets might actually work Jill maybe that with some medicine will help. I usually take dramamine, but then again I love flying. Good luck :)

Good Morning Jill ~

I too don't like to fly...I don't do it! Traveling by train is fun and charming...here are the advantages: you are not freaked out before the trip, on the trip or on the trip home. You meet interesting people, see the country and don't OD on meds! When our son graduated from boot camp three years ago, we had to fly from Portland, OR to Georgia....I was still checking train schedules hours before the flight.

But the truth is...you will be fine...flying is safer and faster. Have a great trip!
