Overheard in the Barnes Yard

Gus at dinner (in undies, of course): "Hey Alexa, what time is it in China?"
Alexa: "It is 9:46 AM on Tuesday in Bejing."
Gus: (fist pumps) "Yes!"

August turned 5

 Not sure how to prevent it, and my Gus man keeps getting older!  He's FIVE!  We partied like super heroes obviously:

 My friend made these fondant toppers for the cupcakes and they were too cute.

August says

Preschool Valentine Party

Today the preschoolers were spreading the love with a Valentine exchange.

Gus and his standard lip-bite smile and green "hulk fingernails".

He loves having Aunt Lo-Lo for his teacher.

By the third kid, I've kind of run out of original ideas for Valentines.  Gus is currently loving Star Wars so we did the old Pinterest glow stick light saber, but put our own twist by dressing him up as Yoda for the card.  I love how they turned out! 

August says...

"So, I'm not going to Kindergarten.  I quit because I like basketball way better."

"Mom, Peyton Manning is terrible."

"I been meaning to ask you, does Daniel Boone have a mohawk?"

"When you have a nightmare, you should not be scared because God is in your heart."

August says

Gus: "Mama, I don't like you anymore."

Mommy: (fake crying) "Whyyyyy?"

Gus: "Because I LOVE you."

Gus, you are 3!

Remember when you were this little (and orange)?  I do!

*Today you still have that dang binkie, but you wear underwear so I figure it's fair. 

*You are 35" tall (7th percentile) and 30 lbs (39th percentile).  Your BMI is a little high. :)

*You LOVE Caillou (I want to stab knitting needles in my ears when I hear Caillou's voice).

*You would only eat waffles and cheese if we let you.

*You like to play with cars, trucks, helicopters, fire engines, trains...anything of that nature.

*You sleep with your Froggy every night.

*Most nights you sneak into Mommy and Daddy's bed.

*I wouldn't even be able to count the number of times you say "I do it MYSELF!" in one day.

Thomas the Train 3rd Birthday Party

Gus requested a Thomas birthday party this year so that's what we had:

It's called potty training.
Day 3.
We've had 2 successes.
And 1 very messy fail.

PS I do not remember it being this difficult for the first 2 children.  
Maybe my memory is going.

I'm also trying to take the binkie away cold turkey. 

 Yeah, so you can see how that is going.

I need party theme ideas

Gus' 3rd birthday is fast approaching.  Can you believe it?!  I'm slacking on the planning because I'm stumped on finding a theme.  He loves Caillou and Thomas the Train, but I'm not sure I want to have a party theme of either of those.  What about pirates?  Help me out.

Good, bad, or genius?  
Any time Gus is doing something naughty, all I have to say is that I'm going to get this out of the drawer and he will stop immediately. 
hehehehehe!

Look what I did to my baby boy today.

Right after I said, "Watch your hand..." and he pulled his hand back, he then put his hand back in right as I was slamming the car door.  :( 
We had a quick trip to Urgent Care to make sure nothing was broken and I think he has forgiven me.
I'm pretty sure third kids end up being the toughest.
