blankie part III

Maybe some of you were wondering what became of blankie.
Maybe not.
I think my Sister-in-Law in Pennsylvania is the only one who reads this anymore.

As I last showed you, blankie has become a very small, little grey square rag, albeit a very special small, little grey square rag.  Brooklyn and I decided together that this was the perfect way that she could still have the loving security of her blankie and be able to carry it around in her pocket or whatever.  Well, that lasted about 3 seconds when we realized that if said blankie gets dropped anywhere, it is almost impossible to find, and if found by another human, they would throw it away believing it to be garbage.
This is our compromise.

Frankly, I'm attached to the dang thing as much as she is.  It's her last piece of baby-ness and she's going to go and start Kindergarten on me in one month.

I smile every time I read your posts! Your fans are here, we just tiptoe around so not to disturb you.

I didn't worry about the blanket because you always follow through with your stories.

And as a side note, you children are precious! I have a 2 yr old granddaughter that is on her way to being a "Blanche", and that's a really good thing!

My son has one and I am equally attached to it as well. At one point we had lost it and after a day or two of crying he sort of forgot about it but I found it and gave it back. And then crazy me went on ebay and went looking for another one. Did you know that there is a good market for old, worn out blankets on ebay? I guess that people go to yard sales and buy them knowing that there are parents out there who are desperate to find an old wore out blankie just like their childs. Yes I almost paid $25 for such a thing but when I posted a picture on beloved gymboree message board someone just happened to have the same blanket brand new in their closet that their child never used and I got it for $4 shipped. Let her have it for as long she wants. So very sweet.

I read your blog faithfully. It's great. Love your funny observations, craft projects and kid stories. My kids even feel like they know you and your kids. Love the blankie update and especially Brooklyn's super cute hair do.

Maybe she could save it forever inside a stuffed animal from Build-a-Bear. That helped my guy give up his binkies.
