birthday tradition

This morning when Blanche asked me, "Am I four yet?"
I could finally answer, "Yes!"
Happy Birthday, to our beautiful baby big girl, Brooklyn Blanche!
When I line these all up, it makes me SO happy I started this tradition.

birthday snack at preschool

"Am I four YET?"
Queen for the day!
In case it's not completely obvious, the thing on top of the sandwich is a bumble bee!
She chose peanut butter cups instead of cupcakes for her treat.  (Her father's daughter!)
I love that her school makes a big deal out of birthdays.
Her actual birthday is on Saturday.
We're continuing the celebration with her first trip to Build A Bear tomorrow.
Happy Birthday,
Queen Blanche!

currently reading

This has been my favorite baby name book by far!
Nate and I are having a heck of a time agreeing on names, but I mean really, do we ever agree on anything?

However, the kids have some top contenders such as,
Poop Head (Porter)
Diaper Head (Porter)
Fart Head (Porter) Are you seeing a trend here?
Max or Ruby or Louise (Brooklyn)
Gus-Gus (they both like it)
Henry Pointer (Porter)
Cheesy (Brooklyn)
Phineas or Ferb (Porter)

We make our ultrasound appointment today!  We'll know very soon whether to stick with the girl or boy names!

interview with a (almost) 4 year old

Mommy: "How old will you be on Saturday?"
Blanche: "Four!"
Mommy: "Are you excited to be four?"
Blanche: "Mmm-Hmm."
Mommy: "What do you think you'll do once you're four?"
Blanche: "Cry.  Whine.  Eat Oreos."
Mommy: "Tell me about your party."
Blanche: "A bumble bee party, eat cake on bumble bee plates and have napkins and cups with Abigail and Addison and Jacie and Grandma and Daddy and Porter and Marcia, eat cake and play, have drinks but they can spill so they have to drink when they're walking."
Mommy: "What would you like for a present?"
Blanche: "Princess stuff, a Belle with a pink dress, a bunny rabbit zhu-zhu pet like Jacie has, a beautiful horse for Cinderella and a carriage."
Mommy: "How are you going to feel when you're four?"
Blanche: "It already feels like I'm four."
"And I just don't know anything else. "

soccer saturday

We love to cheer for this boy every Saturday!
His Daddy has had a good time coaching him too.
This girl can hardly wait until she's 4 and she can play too!
It will be little sister's time soon enough.
Happy weekend!

I'm hating this in-between stage!

our honey bee is turning 4!

Invitation photos:

Her birthday outfit was so fun and CHEAP to make!

I copied a shirt I found on etsy which was way too much moola for thrifty me.  (Walmart T-shirt $3.50, scrap fabric for the number 4 and felt to make a little bumble bee.)  Dollar Tree skirt, Dollar Tree wings (dang, of course they didn't have yellow!), and antennae made from Dollar Tree headband + pipe cleaners and fuzz balls.
Each little party guest will get their own antennae too.
Buzz on back for more party details!

I ordered these hair clips today for Blanche's birthday party

I can't believe she is almost 4!

thoughts

When I was in high school, big boys used to break my heart...
Now that I'm a grown-up, this little boy does.
Last night he told us that he doesn't like to go to school because he only likes to be places where his mommy and daddy are.
We've had a shaky first week of Kindergarten.  His teacher assures us that he doesn't cry when we leave, but the waterworks are on all the way there.
Oh, my heart.
On a completely different note...
This lovely specimen landed smack dab in front of our driveway.  Porter asked me to take his picture by it so he could bring it for show and tell.
At least he was excited for show and tell!
PS even though I asked him to please not "tell" this part, he proudly shared with the class that Mr. Possum had poop coming out of his bottom.
This girl is having a love affair with ponies.
She plays with toy ponies, wears shirts with ponies and now she has officially ridden her first pony.
I've decided that she's going to be an equestrian rather than a gymnast.
Move over Cake Boss!
Can you tell which side was decorated by Blanche and which one was decorated by Porter (Beaver colors!)?
Happy 3-0 Daddy!!

RD

1.  I have officially added the title of school lunch packer to my resume and I really have no idea what I'm doing.

2.  Taking kids to school and picking kids up from school is my main achievement each day and then I'm really too tired to do anything else.

3.  From now until my kids can drive I've realized I'm going to be spending more time in my car than my house.  Should I go ahead and get a "Mom's Taxi" bumper sticker?

4.  I like to eat a bowl of cereal when I first wake up at 6, and then a couple of hours later eat another breakfast type food, and then eat lunch around 10, and pretty much continue eating the rest of the day.
I'm kind of scared to weigh in at my next appointment.

5. Oh, I figured out a way to get three carseats across my backseat!

6.  People who make special requests via my blog just may get what they ask for!

Kindergarten!

Porter, what was the best part about Kindergarten?

"Recess!"

What did you do at school?

"Play with those things what has the fire thing but it has a ball on it.  I love the fire pole and I love the three slides and I love the monkey bars but I just didn't go on it.  I love the climbing.  I love the basketball.  I love my classroom."

Do you want to go back tomorrow?

"No.  Oh yeah, I do!"
My favorite picture!
So grown up!
First day 2010
First day of preschool 2009

It was such a crazy morning!
This new schedule of getting everyone up and ready and out the door by 7:30 is going to take some getting used to!  We made the same candy apple for Porter's teacher that we did for Brooklyn's but in the rush it got left at home.  Oops.
Now that I know what to expect, I think tomorrow will run more smoothly.
And guess what?
It's kind of nice having a few hours of quiet time to eat my breakfast, watch The View and work on some crafts!  Plus the house stays amazingly clean!  Who knew!

PS I didn't even cry!
